FIRE FEAST - 1st Yurt Meeting, Budapest
24 June, Friday - Midsummer day:
A chain of hallowed fires light in the evening
and in the deep of night at Midsummer day in Hungary as well as
in all over the world. The peculiarity of our fire feast is owing
to the Yurt village, unique in Europe, and the participants. The
modern man scantly realises the unity of past, present and future
in his life. The Hungarian heads of the clan repair their Yurts
and put in order their soul and possession preparing themselves
to the celebration of midsummer day, and in the same way as their
predecessors over thousand years.
The village consisting of 24 pieces of Yurts is
unique in Europe, since so much Yurts at the same place only were
during the Mongol invasion in Europe for the last time. The Yurt
village embraces an ellipse. The entrances of the Yurts look for
to the focus of the ellipse where there the altar and the hallowed
fire take place. Every Yurt entrance is illuminated by the light
of a hearth. In the Yurts and in front of them you can see the everyday
life of the clans and they introduce themselves. The Yurts are also
exhibition places that can be visited through three days.
Yurt exhibitions: goldsmith's workshop, corn kitchen,
wood carving, furniture of legends, equestrian archery, medicine-men,
saddlers, national costumes, Yurt fabrication, foot archery, falconry,
scrutinising archery, mystic pictorial art, Mongol traditionalists,
Scythian equestrian archery and other attractions all recall an
ancient time.
